On the 19th of April, 51 participants – library and information services industry specialists and students gathered at the House of Science of the University of Latvia (Latvia, Riga) for the training workshop “The near future of libraries: project management and citizen involvement in science”. The main goal of the workshop was to introduce library employees and young students to the LibOCS project, Citizen Science and the e-course “Citizen Science for Librarians”, as well as to get feedback.
Interest in this workshop was shown by specialists from academic, public and school libraries. Among the participants of the workshop were also University of Latvia students who are currently studying in the library science and information study program. Participants in eight working groups, while performing practical tasks, discussed and exchanged experiences, created ideas and formulated common opinion. Thanks to the large number of interested people, as well as the fact that library specialists of different generations, as well as students, got acquainted with this e-course presentation and its content, it was possible to get diverse feedback on the content of the developed e-course during the workshop. In general, most of the participants spoke very positively about the developed e-course, its structure, methodology, as well as visual presentation. The obtained material is a good source of information for the project participants to continue working on the improvement of the e-course and other training options.
