On March 8, 2024, the 82nd International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia – Library Science and Information section was held at the Library of the University of Latvia. During the conference, researchers, experts and students covered and discussed a variety of topics relevant in the library and information field, among them – citizen science and LibOCS project results.

The conference also addressed the topic of e-courses. Gita Rozenberga, Chief Librarian of the Library of the University of Latvia, in her report analyzed the experience of e-course creation, including the e-course “Citizen Science for Librarians” developed within the LibOCS project. The audience showed great interest in the courses and the opportunity to register and gain valuable information.

Mārīte Saviča, director of the Library of the University of Latvia, gave a presentation ”The Role of Memory Institutions in Citizen Science” about the results of the study report “The Transformative Role of University Libraries and other Memory Institutions for Citizen Science and Open Science in the Baltics”. The presentation highlighted the results of the surveys and recommendations and introduced the audience to projects in Latvia.
